These are original black and white aircraft recognition slides from the Second World War, turned vertically, with the natural colour embedded in the slides enhanced through Photoshop.

Inspiration for the series came from a tragic crash of “The Galloping Ghost”, a highly modified North American P-51D Mustang racing aircraft, which crashed vertically into spectators while competing at the Reno Air Races in 2011 (see photograph below).
